Great shot. I love the composition you have going in those eerie tones. The sky is great. The desert and trash all blended into one color. Wonderful.

@Bettina: eerie is the perfect word for this place. thank you, bettina.

@Sonia Nansid: thank you, sonia, i easily can imagine you does :-)
@Nishith: thank you, nishith, although this is actually not a junkyard but the ordinary view on salton city. it is almost a ghost town right on the salton sea shore. very popular as a rising holiday resort between the 1950's and 70's today it is an unbearably hot, stinky, toxic and totally abandoned god forgotten place - but one of the most impressive spots i have ever been in my life. almost unbelievable there are some people living in the city, most of them old enduring since the 50's waiting for the promised pleasures to come, or welfare people from the l.a. fringes. right behind the gate on the picture lies the salton sea; one of the worst ecological disasters of the u.s. made of the originally beautiful lake, the largest in california. if someone is interested in that place, just google. you'll find thousands of pictures and texts or watch the excellent documentary "plagues and pleasures on the salton sea".
Fantastic shot and shades Trilliana. Nice picture. Hope you're doing great. Sorry I have been traveling and hence a little out of touch. Have a good weekend.

@Nitin: nice to see you from time to time anyway. i envy your constant time for travelling and i enjoy your pictures you share. have a nice weekend, too.
Wonderful color here. That fence and gate don't seem to serve much purpose anymore but to be a canvas for your images!

love the contrast and the colors of this one.. is this another one from the film series?

@Stephanie: thx. nope, it is the compact cam series. you can see that by the exif data.
Beautiful colour tones and composition. I'd never heard about this place before. Sad story.

Beautiful texture, color and composition. Beckons me to think who sat in that chair, passed through that gate, from where have the winds blown and where have they gone. Great.

I dig places like this, adds a layer of mystery to the desert. Cool shot.
14 Jun 2010 7:31pm
@Howard F.: you don't have to dig any further: with the salton sea, salton city or bombay beach on the opposite shore, you'll find the most mysterious, fantastic, depressive and irritating place you can imagine. i have bumped into this place accidently. i found myself in palm springs on a very hot day felt like swimming and saw the salton sea on the map. when i arrived in salton city it was a shock. i forgot swimming from the first breath i took after opening the car ...
Superb color. You captured the desperation of the place beautifully.
